Interorganizational Systems and Transformation of Interorganizational Relationships: A Relational Perspective
Increasingly, organizations have been investing heavily in information systems to support greater cooperation with key business partners. However, the adoption of such interorganizational systems appears to depend not only on the firm’s perspective and internal contingencies, but also on the complementary perspective and contingencies of each of its key partners. Drawing on three IS theoretical...
متن کاملSocial norms and human cooperation.
The existence of social norms is one of the big unsolved problems in social cognitive science. Although no other concept is invoked more frequently in the social sciences, we still know little about how social norms are formed, the forces determining their content, and the cognitive and emotional requirements that enable a species to establish and enforce social norms. In recent years, there ha...

A key question concerning social norms is whether norms that are bad for its members can survive. This paper argues that when identical workers have the outside option to join a competing ̄rm with a di®erent norm, good norms can exist only in the presence of bad norms. With non contractible e®ort, agents cannot credibly commit to cooperation when all outside options are equally good. This is pr...

Rational choice theory defines action as the outcome of a practical inference that takes preferences and beliefs as premises. An explanation in terms of norms depicts a socialized actor whose behavior is not outcome oriented, since when acting in accordan...
متن کاملInterorganizational Cooperation to Develop Information Systems
Interorganizational cooperative relationships offer the potential to develop high quality, low cost information systems. Yet, such relationships are conspicuous by their absence, and important theoretical issues remain to be examined. In this paper, we analyze three cases of cooperative development of information systems, using the frameworks of cooperation theory and configuration theory. Coop...
